Coil Packing Line Site Preparation: Power, Air and Floor

A coil packing line can only be commissioned on time if the site is ready when the equipment arrives. This page lists the site conditions we specify for our lines, covering power, compressed air, the floor and the room around the equipment, so your team can prepare in parallel with manufacturing.

Power Supply

The electrical equipment is housed in closed switch cabinets rated IP20, which need a clean, dry indoor location. Cabinet width depends on the machine: about 800 mm for small standalone machines and 1200–1600 mm for medium machines. A typical cabinet is 600 mm deep and 2200 mm high on a 200 mm base. Plan floor space for the cabinet row near the line. On large lines, the cabinet system is split into transport units no wider than 3600 mm.

Compressed Air

Size the compressed-air supply for the peak demand of the air-intensive stations at their cycle frequency. On strapping lines, multiply the per-cycle consumption by the number of strapping cycles per hour.

Civil Works, Floor Foundations and Pits

• Installation site: indoors, on level ground
• Floor: we assess the floor for each machine size. Apart from heavy-duty equipment, most of our machines work on an ordinary poured concrete slab with no special requirement; some specific equipment may need a foundation.
• Vibration and heat: no intense vibration and no intense heat source next to the machines
• Foundations and pits: coil cars on rails, or pit-type coil cars, need foundations and pits. After design, we supply the pit and foundation drawings and requirements, and the customer builds the civil works.
• Hydraulics: down-enders use a hydraulic station (lift and tilt), so plan space and a drip-safe area for it.

Ambient Conditions

Data and Labeling Points

If the line reads coil data from the slitting line or a barcode reader, or shares packing data with ERP/MES, plan the network connection to the line's industrial PC or PLC (for example, Profinet).

Who Prepares What

FAQ

What air pressure does the line need? 0.6–0.8 MPa of clean, dry compressed air.

What voltage do you build for? 380 V/50 Hz as standard. Other supplies, such as 400 V/60 Hz or 415 V, are built to order.

Do I need a special floor? Usually not. Apart from heavy-duty equipment, an ordinary poured concrete slab is enough; we confirm this per machine, and our layout drawings state the foundation requirements.

Does the line need a pit? Only if the layout uses pit-type coil cars. We provide the foundation concept drawings.

What ambient temperature is allowed? 0–40 °C as standard; extended ranges such as -10 to +45 °C on request.
