Executive summary This clip shows the stations of our slit coil lines: a strapping press, wrapping stations, an orbital eye-through wrapper and gantry stackers. Rather than quote a payback time, we give a simple formula so you can check the investment against your own labour, damage and throughput figures.

What the clip shows
| Step | What you see |
|---|---|
| Strapping | A strapping press station bands a flat coil |
| Wrapping | Wrapping stations cover coils in film |
| Eye-through | An orbital ring wraps the coil through the eye |
| Stacking | A gantry and a hooded stacker build stacks |
| Lines | Several of our lines in the workshop |
Cost items to count
| Cost item | What to count |
|---|---|
| Labour | People per shift on packing today |
| Damage | Claims from scratches, rust and loose wraps |
| Throughput | Coils waiting for packing |
| Materials | Strap and film used per coil |
Payback formula
Worked example (illustrative). Payback in years = line cost ÷ yearly saving.
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Labour saved per year (illustrative) | 60,000 USD |
| Damage claims avoided per year (illustrative) | 20,000 USD |
| Yearly saving, 60,000 + 20,000 | 80,000 USD |
| Line cost (illustrative) | 200,000 USD |
| Payback, 200,000 ÷ 80,000 | 2.5 years |
| Packing time per coil today (illustrative) | 10 min |
| Packing time per coil on the line (illustrative) | 2 min |
What we set per line
| Setting | Depends on |
|---|---|
| Stations | Which manual jobs to replace |
| Strap and film | Spec per coil |
| Stacking | Stack pattern |
| Output | Slitter rate |
Selection checklist
- Coil OD, ID, width and weight.
- Coils per slitting cut.
- Straps per coil.
- Film layers.
- Stack pattern and pallet size.
- Coils per hour.
Safety
- Keep clear of the upender, strapping head and wrapping ring while they move.
- Stay outside the fenced stacking area.
- Lock out before clearing a jam.
- For CE markets, the machine is designed to ISO 12100 and EN 415-10.
Engineering FAQ
Q: How do I work out payback? A: Line cost divided by yearly saving; 2.5 years in the worked example.
Q: What counts as saving? A: Labour and damage claims in the worked example; strap and film savings can be added.
Q: Do you promise a payback time? A: No, it depends on your figures; we work it out with you.
Q: Which stations are in the clip? A: Strapping, wrapping, eye-through wrapping and stacking.
Q: Can stations be added later? A: Yes, we plan floor space for stations added later.
Q: Which standards apply? A: For CE markets, ISO 12100 and EN 415-10.
Next step
We match a slit coil packing line in three steps:
- Submit your layout drawing with coil sizes, output, crew and damage figures, to info@fhopepack.com.
- Receive a proposal within 48 hours with the machine data and layout.
- Book a site survey so we confirm the slitter exit.
