Spulenwagen für automatische Schneidspulenverpackungslinie

Executive summary

A coil car moves slit or master coils between the recoiler, buffer and packing stations on an automatic slitting-coil packaging line. Our transfer cars use a V-saddle or cradle with side arms so the coil rides eye-horizontal without rolling. Load, track length and lift stroke are confirmed per project. A worked example sizes a car for a 5 t × 1,250 mm OD slit coil and estimates trip time on a 12 m track.

Why packing lines use a coil car

After slitting, coils leave the recoiler eye-horizontal. A crane can move them, but a dedicated coil car keeps height low, repeats the same path and frees the crane for other lifts. On automatic packing lines the car links the recoiler buffer to the upender, wrapper or strapper in a fixed cycle.

Transfer car layout: V-saddle, retaining arms and floor rail track

The car runs on a floor track or rails. A V-saddle or cradle holds the coil. Side arms or clamps keep the coil from walking during travel. Some cars add a short lift so the saddle clears floor stops or matches the next station height. Drive is typically geared motor with inverter speed control; travel soft-starts to protect coil edges.

A common handover is: lift to clear the recoiler or turnstile, traverse the track, then lower the saddle onto the next V-groove or packing infeed.

Two cars are common when two wrap stations run in parallel; one car can also shuttle left/right between stations when the layout is short.

Die gezeigte Maschine

Our green and orange coil car holds a large silver metal coil eye-horizontal on a central cradle. Orange arms are open around the coil. The green base carries the drive side. This view is a static demonstration of the loaded car; travel and lift strokes are confirmed on the line layout drawing.

Coil car selection data

Artikel Example project values (confirm on order)
Max coil weight (example) 5 t
Spulenaußendurchmesser (Beispiel) 1,250mm
Spulenbreite (Beispiel) 500mm
Track length (example) 12 m
Travel speed (example) 12 m / min
SWL sizing factor ≥ 1.25 × max coil
Antrieb Geared motor + inverter

Exact safe working load, speed and rail type are frozen after you send the coil mix and the floor plan.

Worked example: a 5 t slit coil on a 12 m track

Illustrative duty: max coil 5 t, OD 1,250 mm, width 500 mm, track 12 m between recoiler buffer and packing infeed, travel speed target 12 m/min.

Belastung. Car SWL must be ≥ 5 t with margin; we usually size at least 1.25× max coil → ≥ 6.25 t class.

Reisezeit. 12 m at 12 m/min ≈ 60 s one way, plus soft start/stop and any lift. Round-trip empty return often doubles that if one car serves one path; two cars cut wait when both stations are busy.

Wegbringen. Send max weight and the station-to-station distance before we freeze SWL and motor size.

Auswahlliste: Was Sie uns senden sollten

  1. Max coil OD, width and weight.
  2. Track length and number of stops.
  3. One car or two (parallel stations).
  4. Need for lift stroke and height matches.
  5. Destination market for the safety file.

Sicherheit und EN 415-10

For CE markets we use EN 415-10 as the packaging-line handling reference, with a risk assessment to ISO 12100. The main hazards are crushing at the arms, runover on the track and collision at station stops. Keep the track clear while the car moves; interlocks and E-stops are set on the project risk file.

Häufig gestellte Fragen zur Technik

Q: Coil car vs C-hook crane? A: A car keeps a fixed low path and repeats the same cycle. A crane is flexible but slower for dense packing-line takt and needs more overhead clearance.

Q: One car or two? A: One car suits a single path. Two cars are usual when two packing stations run together, or when wait time at the wrapper must stay low.

Q: Does the car wrap the coil? A: No. It only transfers. Wrapping, strapping and upending are separate stations on the line.

Q: Which standard do you cite for CE? A: EN 415-10 for packaging-line handling and transport integration, with an ISO 12100 risk assessment covering rail travel and clamping hazards.
