Wie Spulenwickelmaschine für PET-Bandverpackung

Executive summary

PET strapping belt is sold in wound coils, and the coil edges are the part that gets damaged first: a dented edge makes the strap jam in the customer’s strapping tool. Our coil wrapping machine passes stretch film through the coil eye and round the outside, so both edges and the face are covered in one closed wrap.

The operator sets a green PET belt coil on the drive rollers of the green and yellow frame. A press arm closes onto the coil, the wrapping ring starts. White film is laid through the eye and over the outer face while the rollers turn the coil slowly, until the whole coil is closed in film.

Why PET belt coils are wrapped

A PET belt coil is a stack of thin strap layers held only by its own tension. If an edge hits the floor the outer layers fold, and a folded layer feeds badly in a strapping head. Film through the eye holds the layers together, keeps dust off the strap surface and stops the coil from telescoping when it is stood on edge. The wrapped coil can then go into a carton or onto a pallet without extra edge boards.

Wrapping sequence

  1. The coil is placed flat on the drive rollers, eye over the ring opening.
  2. The press arm comes down and holds the coil against the rollers.
  3. The ring turns and carries the film roll through the eye and round the outer face.
  4. The drive rollers turn the coil so each wrap overlaps the last one.
  5. After one full turn of the coil the film is cut and the tail pressed down.
  6. The press arm lifts and the wrapped coil is taken off.

Maschinendaten

For PET belt coils the FPCA-300 range is the usual fit:

Artikel FPCA-300
Spule ID 250 – 510 mm
Spule OD 400 – 900 mm
Spulenbreite 60 – 300 mm
Coilgewicht 20-200 kg
Ringgeschwindigkeit 10–90 U/min
Zeitumschlag 20–38 s pro Spule
Überlappung 10-90%
Tuning 2.4 kW
Filme LLDPE, PVC, PE or paper

Smaller coils run on the FPCA-200 (ID 150–400 mm, OD 250–500 mm). Core size outside these ranges is confirmed at quote.

Wrap time and film use

Wraps per coil ≈ π × OD ÷ (film width × (1 − overlap))

Wrap time ≈ wraps ÷ ring speed

Film per wrap ≈ 2 × (coil width + (OD − ID) ÷ 2)

Example only: a coil of OD 600 mm, ID 400 mm and width 150 mm, with 100 mm film at 50% overlap, advances 50 mm per wrap. π × 600 ≈ 1,885 mm, so 1,885 ÷ 50 ≈ 38 wraps. At 90 r/min that is about 25 s. Each wrap uses 2 × (150 + 100) = 500 mm of film, so about 38 × 0.5 = 19 m per coil.

Filmauswahl

Stretch film is the usual choice: it clings to itself, needs no heat and leaves the strap clean. PVC gives a stiffer, clearer wrap for retail display. Paper or a paper-film mix is used where the customer wants to avoid plastic on the outside. A higher overlap gives more edge protection but uses more film and time, so it is set per coil.

Auswahl-Checkliste

  1. Spulen-Innendurchmesser, Außendurchmesser und Breite.
  2. Spulengewicht.
  3. Spulen pro Stunde.
  4. Filmtyp und -breite.
  5. Manual loading or conveyor in-feed and out-feed.
  6. Label or logo tape needed on the wrap.

Sicherheit

We design to EN ISO 12100:2010 for risk assessment, EN 415-10 for packaging machine safety and EN 60204-1 for the electrical equipment. The ring has a guard and the cycle starts only with the press arm closed; an emergency stop is within reach of the loading position.

Häufig gestellte Fragen zur Technik

Q: Why wrap through the eye and not only round the outside? A: Only a through-the-eye wrap covers both edges, which is where PET belt coils get damaged.

Q: How long does one coil take? A: 20–38 s on the FPCA-300, depending on coil size and overlap.

Q: Can the machine take different core sizes? A: Yes, within the ID range above; the rollers and press arm are set for each size.

Q: Can loading be automated? A: Yes. In-feed and out-feed conveyors or a coil tilter are added to the layout, confirmed at quote.
