**Zusammenfassung**
> Our sofa packing line is packaging equipment built for upholstered furniture. It wraps each piece in bubble film, seals it in a shrinkable PE sleeve and shrinks the sleeve tight in a heat tunnel, all in one row on the production floor. Below we compare it with orbital stretch wrapping and hand packing. A worked example then shows how to size film use and line pace before you send us your sizes.

Why furniture needs its own packaging equipment
A sofa is large, soft and easy to mark. Fabric snags, corners dent and legs scratch the next piece in the truck. A carton alone is bulky and costly at sofa size. Loose film tears in handling and lets dust in.
Upholstered pieces also vary from model to model. A packing method for furniture has to cope with soft surfaces, uneven shapes and frequent size changes. Pallet wrappers and case packers are built for firm, square loads, so they are a poor fit.
The stations of our sofa packing line
We build the line as one straight row so it fits most factory floors and leaves the operators room on both sides. Operators place each piece on the infeed conveyor and square it up. The line draws film from rolls mounted on the frame, and the piece rides through these stations:
- **Bubble film layer.** The first wrap is bubble film, which cushions the piece against drops, knocks and scratches. We feed it from a roll on the line or set up a manual station, to suit your range.
- **PE sleeve.** The piece then passes through a curtain of shrinkable PE film. The two film webs close behind it and are sealed into a sleeve.
- **Heat tunnel.** Hot air shrinks the sleeve so it pulls tight and compresses the pack.
- **Optional platforms.** We can leave space for fitting paper corner protectors or for a labelling station.
The same line packs fabric chairs, trunks and other furniture, not only sofas. Station layout is designed around your product range.
Top press and seal frame
Upholstery is soft and springs back. Our line uses a scissor-linkage top press that lowers onto the piece and holds it steady while the film is sealed. The press keeps the cushions from lifting the film and pulling the seal line out of place.
The seal frame stands across the conveyor with film rolls at each side. When the piece has passed through the film curtain, the frame closes and seals the two webs together. The new curtain is then ready for the next piece. The panel on the frame column carries the run indicator and the controls.
Shrink sleeve, orbital stretch or hand packing
| Method | How it covers the piece | Best fit |
| :--- | :--- | :--- |
| Shrink sleeve line | Sealed sleeve shrunk tight by heat | Sofas, chairs and upholstered pieces |
| Orbital stretch wrapper | Film spirals round the piece as it travels | Doors, panels, kitchen fronts and long flat items |
| Hand packing | Operator wraps and tapes | Very low volume or one-off sizes |
A shrink sleeve closes all six faces in one pack. That suits soft, uneven shapes, because the film follows the outline as it shrinks. Our [furniture wrapping machine](https://www.fhopepack.com/Customize-orbital-wrapper/furniture-wrapping-machine.html) is the orbital option. It suits flat, rigid pieces where steady film tension and full side cover matter more than a sealed sleeve.
Worked example: film area and line pace for a three-seat sofa
Take a three-seat sofa with an outer size of 2,000 × 900 × 850 mm. These are illustrative customer figures; send us yours.
**Film area.** Add up the six faces:
| Faces | Size of one face | Area of the pair (m²) |
| :--- | :--- | :--- |
| Top and bottom | 2.0 m × 0.9 m | 3.60 |
| Front and back | 2.0 m × 0.85 m | 3.40 |
| Two ends | 0.9 m × 0.85 m | 1.53 |
| Total | — | 8.53 |
Allow an engineering margin of 15% for seal overlap and film shrinkage, an illustrative figure we verify in factory trials. That gives about 9.81 m² of PE film per sofa. If the bubble layer covers all six faces too, it needs a similar area.
**Line pace.** Suppose you need 400 sofas in an 8-hour shift. That is 50 sofas an hour, so the line pace, or takt, is 3,600 ÷ 50 = 72 s per sofa. Each station must finish within that time. The slowest station, usually the seal or the tunnel, sets the real output. We confirm its cycle time on your sizes.
Auswahlliste: Was Sie uns senden sollten
1. Largest and smallest piece size, length × depth × height.
2. Weight of the heaviest piece.
3. Pieces per shift and shifts per day.
4. Whether you need bubble film, PE shrink film or both.
5. Corner protectors or labels you want added in line.
6. Floor length available and where the line joins your upholstery area.
7. Power supply at site.
Sicherheit und EN 415-10
We design the line to EN 415-10 for packaging machines and assess risks to ISO 12100. The main hazards are the hot tunnel, the closing seal frame and the top press. We guard these points and add emergency stops along the line. The line carries CE marking, and our factory works to ISO 9001.
Häufig gestellte Fragen zur Technik
Q: Can one line handle several sofa sizes?
A: Yes. We set the film curtain, press height and tunnel opening for your largest piece and check the smallest on trials.
Q: Why use two films instead of one?
A: Bubble film protects against impact and scratching. The shrink film holds the pack tight and keeps out dust and moisture.
Q: Can the line join our existing conveyor?
A: Yes. We match the conveyor height and feed direction to your upholstery output.
F: Welche Sicherheitsstandards gelten?
A: ISO 12100 für die Risikobewertung und EN 415-10 für die Maschine, in CE-Märkten.
Q: What warranty do you give?
A: The sofa packing line comes with a 2-year warranty.
