Resumen
A coil de-strapping machine removes the straps from heavy steel coils under control instead of by hand. The video below shows the handling cell at the start of the line: a robot arm grips the coil, lifts it clear, turns it and presents it for the strap-removal step, then passes the coil to an inclined conveyor. Coil size, strap pattern and line pace are confirmed per project. This guide explains the de-strapping cell, what the robot does, what to specify and what to verify before acceptance, for plant engineers and coil-line buyers.
The De-strapping Cell Sequence
| Paso | Lo que sucede |
|---|---|
| Coil arrival | A heavy coil arrives on the line, still strapped. |
| Robot picks | The robot arm grips the coil, lifts it clear of the conveyor and positions it. |
| Quitar la correa | The presented strap is cut and pulled clear while the coil is held firmly. |
| Coil hand-off | The freed coil is turned or oriented as the next station needs it. |
| Descarga | The coil is placed on an inclined conveyor to the next process. |
Doing this by robot removes the manual cut-and-pull step that strains operators and risks the coil edges.
What the Robot Does
| Función | Por qué importa |
|---|---|
| Tramoya | A dedicated gripper holds the coil without damaging edges. |
| Lift | Takes the coil clear so strapping can be accessed from every side. |
| Turn/orient | Rotates the coil to present each strap and to meet the next station's orientation. |
| Especial | Sets the coil on the outfeed with repeatable position. |
| Transferencia de PLC | Signals the line so the next step starts only when the coil is placed. |
The exact motions (grip range, turns, place position) are set from the coil family you process, and confirmed per project.
Qué especificar
| Entrada | Por qué importa |
|---|---|
| Coil outer/inner diameter, width, weight | Sets gripper range, robot payload and reach. |
| Strap pattern (number, position) | Sets how many cut/pull moves each cycle needs. |
| In and out orientation | Sets turns and the outfeed angle. |
| Strap material and closure | Steel or PET/PP band and the closure type select the cutter/puller tooling; waste-band removal is stated too. |
| Tiempo del ciclo | Sets robot speed and gripper design. |
| Interfaz de línea | Sets PLC hand-off and safety interlock. |
| Medio Ambiente | Sets robot cabinet/grade (dust, wash-down, coil oil). |
Pruebas y aceptación en fábrica
- Full-cycle evidence. A test log of complete pick / strap-cut / turn / place cycles on a representative coil.
- Duración extendida. The vendor's stated practice on this machine family includes near-continuous pre-delivery testing (up to about 24 hours where stated). Make this stated practice a contractual FAT verification item and ask for that machine's own test record, not only the brochure.
- Control y seguridad. Smooth, responsive control; emergency stop verified; light curtains/interlocked guarding around the robot cell.
- Protección de bordes. Evidence that grips and turns did not damage the coil edges during testing.
- Puesta en marcha. Descripción por escrito del alcance de la instalación, la puesta en marcha y el servicio in situ.
- Empaquetado de bobinas: funcionamiento y aplicaciones – The full coil packing sequence this de-strapping cell feeds.
- Soluciones para volteadores de bobinas y volteo industrial – Coil handlers used across coil lines.
- Cómo funcionan las máquinas de torneado de 180° para componentes y láminas prefabricadas – EN 415-10 / ISO 12100 safety reference notes.
On arrival repeat: empty pick, loaded cycle, emergency stop, edge inspection.
Preguntas Frecuentes
Q: Which coils need this?
A: Heavy steel coils where manual strap cutting is unsafe or slow. Coil size and strap pattern decide the gripper and robot.
Q: Does the robot remove all strap types?
A: It is set to your strap type (steel or plastic band) and pattern; the cut-and-pull end effector is selected per project.
Q: Can it be integrated with my existing line?
A: Yes, via PLC hand-off and standard conveyor heights. Give the manufacturer your outfeed conveyor and orientation requirements.
P: ¿Qué normas de seguridad se aplican?
A: The cell is designed with EN 415-10 as the machinery safety reference and an ISO 12100 risk assessment for the robot cell and adjacent conveyors; certification status is confirmed at FAT.
Próximo Paso
Send coil OD/ID/width/weight, strap pattern, in/out orientation, cycle time and line interface so the robot cell and gripper are sized on the approval drawing.
