What a pipe winding machine does
Flexible tube leaves the extruder as an endless length. Winding it by hand onto a frame is slow, the length varies, and loose turns tangle. A pipe winding machine does three jobs automatically. It measures the length, winds tight even layers on a former of the right ID and height, and holds the coil for tying so it keeps its shape when taken off.
Typical products are PE water and irrigation pipe, PEX and PE-RT heating pipe, PVC hose and small air or fuel tube.
How the coiling cycle works
- 开始。 The tube end is clamped to the former, which sits between clamping plates set to the coil ID and height.
- 风。 The former turns at line speed while the guide traverses, laying even layers. Servo drives match the winding to the extruder.
- 计数。 The meter counter stops the coil at the set length and the tube is cut.
- Tie and wrap. The coil is strapped while still held; options add film wrapping or shrink wrap.
- 排出。 The clamps open and the coil leaves on the conveyor; the next coil starts.
A white control cabinet with PLC and HMI runs the cycle and reports error codes over IoT. A mesh guard covers the turning former.

For larger coils, the FCL400 takes 300–500 mm ID and 680–1,200 mm OD; the model numbers are series names, not coil sizes.
All FCL-800 models: coiling speed up to 80 m/min, 6 bar air, servo winding and strapping, success rate up to 99%.
Sizing example: a 100 m coil
Illustrative: 16 mm PE pipe from an extruder at 60 m/min, coiled into 100 m coils on an FCL-800B with a 400 mm ID and 200 mm coil height.

结果。 Winding alone takes 100 s, with 20 m/min to spare over the extruder. The cut, tie and discharge time t_c adds to every coil on a single station, so the line needs either a second winding station or a buffer for the tube during changeover. Our coiling and strapping lines are built for up to 45 coils an hour. Exact coil OD depends on how tightly the layers pack and is checked on your pipe at the factory test.
After coiling: strapping, wrapping, shrinking
Coiled pipe is tied at several points so it cannot spring open. For retail or export, it can then be film wrapped through the eye or shrink wrapped. We build coiling and strapping in two versions, horizontal and vertical, and link them to a wrapper where needed.

Coiling and packing machines are built to EN 415-10, with the risk assessment done to ISO 12100. The hazards are the turning former, the traversing guide, the tube cutter and the strapping head. A mesh guard covers the winding area, and the former must be stopped before anyone reaches in.
