What modern coil packaging requires

Modern coil packaging is held to three standards at once: the coil must stay dimensionally stable, the moisture barrier must hold, and the strapping must stay retained and secure. Meeting the three is what protects the coil in transit and gives it the elegant, finished appearance a customer opens. Manual folding struggles to hold all three. Secure strapping retention

Strapping has to stay where it was applied, retained around the coil without shifting or loosening. Retained strapping is what holds the wrap and the coil together against handling. Through-eye wrapping

Through-eye wrapping winds the film through the center eye of the coil and around its surfaces, building a full seal over the coil in a single continuous pattern. Through-eye coverage is what closes the moisture barrier across the faces and the eye, where edge wraps leave gaps. The wrap reaches the areas that protect the coil’s steel most. Through-eye settings follow the coil’s eye and width, confirmed per project.

Films and corrosion protection

The pack plan combines recyclable polyethylene films, crepe paper and corrosion-inhibiting vapor materials, matching the material to the protection the steel needs. Film protects the surface, paper cushions and holds, and the vapor corrosion protection defends the metal inside the closed package. The material mix is confirmed per project against the coil and its storage. The right film plan is the one that holds the barrier closed.

Run the recipe from the panel and the machine wraps, films and straps each coil through its eye automatically. Keep clear of the wrap paths, film feed, strapping heads and handling while the machine runs, with guarding and emergency stops at the operator position. Routine checks cover the wrapper, film path, VCI feed, strap heads, sensors and control, per the machine manual. Confirm the pack and strap settings against the coil before each run so barriers stay closed.
