> Copper tube coils for air-conditioning and refrigeration are soft, bright and easily marked. Our automatic copper coil packing machine wraps each coil through the eye with woven tape, paper or stretch film while the coil turns on rollers. The FPC-200 takes coils of 5–500 kg and the FPC-300 coils of 10–1,000 kg, both with ring speeds up to 100 r/min, and an electronic scale can be built into the line.
A bare copper tube coil arrives on the yellow roller conveyor, the operator centres it, and the ring of the blue wrapping head passes through the eye. The coil leaves fully covered in yellow tape, with no copper surface showing.

Why copper tube coils are taped
A level-wound copper tube coil is soft metal. A dent in an outer turn or a scratch on the bright surface can lead to a rejected coil. Copper also tarnishes when moisture reaches it. A full through-the-eye wrap protects every face of the coil, holds the outer turns in place, and keeps dust and moisture off the tube until it reaches the customer's line.
Operación paso a paso
1. **Infeed.** The coil arrives flat on the roller conveyor.
2. **Centre.** The coil is brought to the wrapping head, and its eye is aligned with the ring.
3. **Wrap.** The ring turns through the eye, laying one band of tape around the coil section each turn. Drive rollers turn the coil slowly, so each band overlaps the last by the set amount.
4. **Cut and finish.** After a full coil turn plus an overwrap, the ring stops, and the tape is cut and pressed down.
5. **Outfeed.** The wrapped coil moves on to weighing, labelling or stacking.
Ring speed and coil speed are both adjustable, and their ratio sets the overlap.
Tape, paper or film

All three run on the same head. The roll sizes are a 50 or 76 mm core, 150–450 mm OD and 90–120 mm width.

Worked example: tape and time per coil
Take a copper tube coil of 900 mm OD, 600 mm ID and 250 mm wide on the FPC-300, wrapped with 100 mm woven tape at 40% overlap. Overlap is set at the bore, where the circumference is smallest.

**Result.** About 32 ring turns and 26 m of tape close the coil in one layer, in about half a minute at 60 r/min. Infeed, centring, cutting and outfeed are added to this; the full cycle for your line is confirmed at quote.
Line options: scale, conveyor, stacking
An electronic scale can be built into the FPC-300 line, so each coil is weighed in the same pass. We have supplied a conveyor with scales ahead of the wrapping head for this. Coil wrappers are packaging machines other than pallet wrappers, so they are covered by EN 415-10, with the risk assessment to ISO 12100:2010. The turning ring, the drive rollers and the conveyor nips are the main hazards. The ring runs only with the operator clear of the head, and an emergency stop is within reach. Guarding and CE documents are agreed per project.
