Resumen ejecutivo
Big hose, corrugated hose, wire-reinforced hose and HDPE pipe come off the extruder as one continuous length. An automatic coiling and strapping machine measures the length, winds it into a tight coil, cuts it and straps it, and a coil wrapper can then cover it in film. This page explains how the line runs, which coil sizes it handles, how many straps to use, and how to work out the length per coil.
The coiler combines a servo-driven expandable reel, a strapping head and an HMI panel on one frame. Red corrugated hose builds up on an expandable reel with steel spokes, and an orange strapping head waits beside the reel to strap the finished coil.

How the line operates
- Length set: the length per coil is entered on the HMI; an encoder measures the pipe as it runs.
- Enrollado: the servo-driven reel winds the pipe in even layers, matched to the extruder speed.
- Corte: at the set length the pipe is cut and the tail held.
- Torneado: the coil is turned through 180° to the strapping position.
- Fornido: 4 or 6 straps are applied around the coil.
- Descarga: the reel arms collapse and the coil is released.
- Wrapping (option): the coil moves to an eye-through coil wrapper, where a film ring passes through the coil eye and covers the coil all round, over the straps.
Coil and pipe sizes
From our FCL-800 automatic pipe coiler:

Coiling speed is up to 80 m per minute. Our HDPE coiler for 20–32 mm pipe runs on HMI, PLC, servo and encoder control at less than 3 kW, AC 220 V 50 Hz, with 0.5 MPa air at less than 1.0 m³/h, in a 4,500 × 2,200 × 2,100 mm footprint. Larger corrugated and wire hose is sized per project.
Longitud por bobina
Turns per layer = coil height ÷ pipe OD. Layers = (coil OD − coil ID) ÷ 2 ÷ pipe OD. Length ≈ 3.14 × mean diameter × total turns. For 30 mm hose in a coil of ID 500, OD 800 and height 300 mm (example only):

Corrugated hose does not pack as tightly as smooth pipe, so check real length on a trial coil.
How many straps
- 4 straps: light, smooth coils that hold their shape.
- 6 straps: springy corrugated or heavy wire hose, and coils that are stacked high.
Strap material and tension are set to the hose, so the strap does not crush thin-wall corrugations.
Adding film wrapping
After strapping, a coil wrapping machine passes film through the coil eye and around it. Wrapping keeps out dust, holds labels and gives retail packs a clean finish. For pipe going straight to a building site, strapping alone is often enough.

Seguridad
The line is designed to EN ISO 12100:2010 for risk assessment, EN 415-10 for packaging machine safety and EN 60204-1 for electrical equipment. The turning reel, the cutter and the strapping head are the main hazards, so they are guarded with an emergency stop at the panel.
