Executive summary
Aluminium rods and extruded profiles are long and soft-surfaced. Hand wrapping scratches them, and the film tension changes from bundle to bundle. A full-auto horizontal wrapping machine feeds the bundle on a belt conveyor, holds it with a top press and wraps stretch film around it with an orbital ring, so every bundle leaves with the same tension and overlap. This page covers the stations, why the top press matters, the E200 data and how to estimate film per bundle.
A bundle of aluminium profiles runs on a green belt conveyor into a white guarded frame. Yellow pneumatic press bars come down on top of the bundle and hold it while the ring carries the stretch film roll around it. Side guides on the roller infeed keep the next bundle in line, and the wrapped bundle leaves with a smooth film cover.

Why aluminium is hard to wrap
Mill-finish and anodised aluminium marks easily. Profiles in a bundle slide against each other when the bundle is lifted at one end. A loose wrap lets them move, and a hand wrap is tight in one place and slack in another. An automatic wrap at a fixed tension and overlap holds the pieces still from end to end.
Wie funktioniert die Maschine?
- Einspeisung: the bundle comes in on the roller table between side guides.
- Vermitteln: a belt conveyor, which does not mark the aluminium, carries it into the ring.
- Halt: pneumatic press bars lower onto the bundle.
- Wickeln: the ring turns around the moving bundle and lays stretch film at the set overlap.
- Cut and outfeed: the film is cut and the bundle leaves on the outfeed conveyor.
Why the top press matters
As the film goes around, it pulls the top pieces sideways. Without a hold-down the upper layer of a flat profile bundle rolls and the bundle loses its shape. The press bars keep the bundle square while the ring passes, and they lift between bundles so the conveyor can index. For round rod bundles the press also stops single rods from climbing out of the bundle.
E200-Daten
| Artikel | FHOPE E200 Horizontal-Stretchfolie |
|---|---|
| Verpackungshülle (Außendurchmesser oder Schnittdiagonale) | 50 – 200 mm |
| Paketlänge | über 1,000 mm |
| Paketgewicht | 8-100 kg |
| Zuführ- und Abführbänder | 2,000 mm each, motor driven; long bundles need extra support tables |
| Fördergeschwindigkeit | 6–12 m/Min |
| Überlappung | 10% -90% |
| Start und Stopp | weich |
| Wachen | elektrogeschweißtes Gitter |
Larger bundles use the bigger E-series rings; sizes are confirmed at quote.
Film pro Bündel
Film turns = bundle length ÷ (film width × (1 − overlap)) + head and tail wraps. Film used ≈ turns × bundle perimeter. For a bundle 6,000 mm long and 150 × 100 mm in section, with 100 mm film at 50% overlap, each turn advances 50 mm, so the ring makes 120 turns plus a few reinforcing turns at each end. The perimeter is 2 × (150 + 100) = 500 mm, so about 120 × 0.5 = 60 m of film per bundle before pre-stretch (example only). The section diagonal is about 180 mm, inside the 200 mm package envelope. At 6 m long the bundle is longer than the 2,000 mm conveyors, so support tables carry it in and out. At 12 m/min it passes the ring in about 30 s.
Auswahl-Checkliste
- Rod or profile section, and bundle width and height?
- Bundle length and weight?
- Pakete pro Stunde?
- Film only, or paper first then film?
- Inline from a stacker or bundler?
- Labels on the bundle?
Sicherheit
We design horizontal wrappers to EN ISO 12100:2010 for risk assessment, EN 415-10 for packaging machine safety and EN 60204-1 for electrical equipment. The ring and press are inside an electro-welded mesh guard with interlocked doors.
Häufig gestellte Fragen zur Technik
Q: Will the belt mark the profiles? A: No; a belt conveyor supports the bundle without metal contact.
Q: Can it wrap single long profiles? A: Yes, within the package OD and length range.
Q: How is overlap changed? A: By the ratio of ring speed to conveyor speed, set on the panel.
Q: Can paper go under the film? A: Yes, as a separate station before the wrapper.
