Why a mobile changer suits paper rolls
A paper roll that arrives on a broken, wet or wrong-size pallet has to move to a new pallet before it goes into storage or onto a truck. Re-stacking by hand is not an option for a roll, and a stationary changer means bringing every roll to one spot.
A mobile changer goes to the roll instead, as our [mobile pallet changer for limited space](https://www.fhopepack.com/videos/mobile-pallet-changer-machine-for-pallet-changing-in-limited-space/) does in tight aisles. It needs no fixed installation, works in any aisle wide enough for it, and runs from its own battery.
How the clamp exchange works
1. The operator drives the changer to the roll; it does not need the pallet turned to line up.
2. The clamp arms close on the roll, and the clamping is quick so the roll is held before lifting.
3. The forks lift the roll clear of the old pallet.
4. The changer moves the roll to the new pallet, sets it down and releases.
5. Where the load must be turned, the Plus A can rotate it 180° to make the change easier.

The clamper closes quickly, and the turning speed is adjustable. Our Plus A is rated 1,000 kg for lifting and upending, with 1,500 kg as its maximum loading. Plan on 1,000 kg whenever the load is clamped or turned; we confirm the rating for your roll size and straight lifts per project.

For paper rolls with soft edges, the pressure setting matters: too little and the roll slips, too much and the edge crushes. Tell us the roll grade and diameter and we will say which holder suits it.
Worked example: travel time and a battery shift

Travel alone would allow over 400 exchanges per charge at this distance. Clamping, lifting to 1.6 m and turning also draw on the battery through the 2.2 kW lift motor. The real count per charge is therefore lower; the clamp, lift and set-down time and the operator's pace decide it. A 10% gradeability means a ramp rising 1 m needs at least 10 m of run.

- How many exchanges per shift, and the distances.
- Aisle widths and any ramps.
- Whether the load ever has to be turned.
- Charging location and site voltage.
Safety: EN 415-10 and ISO 3691-1
The standards that apply depend on the destination market. For CE markets, ISO 12100 sets the risk-assessment method and EN 415-10 sets the general safety requirements for the clamping and handling functions. The driven truck itself falls under ISO 3691-1 for self-propelled industrial trucks.
For each site, the risk assessment should cover travel routes and pedestrian areas. Operators should keep clear of the clamp arms while they close, and stay out from under a lifted load.
