Kokkuvõte

A carpet roll sealing and shrinking packing machine closes each roll in a tube of film, seals it, and passes it through a heat tunnel so the film shrinks into a tight, clean skin. The finished pack keeps out dust and water, shows the carpet through the film, and stacks well. Below: how the sealing and shrinking stages work, how to size the film and the tunnel, and the roll data we need to build the line around your range.

Why seal and shrink carpet rolls

Carpet rolls are long, soft and heavy, and they travel through warehouses, trucks and retail floors before anyone unrolls them. An open roll picks up dust, the pile gets crushed at contact points, and loose ends unwind. A sealed and shrunk film skin holds the roll tight, keeps it clean and dry, and leaves the pattern visible for the buyer.

Compared with a stretch-wrapped spiral, a shrunk sleeve gives a smooth surface with no film tails, and the roll ends can be closed completely.

Kuidas liin töötab

  1. Söötmine. The roll lies on a belt conveyor and is carried into the film station.
  2. Kile ja pitser. Film from the reel is formed round the roll, and the sealing unit closes it along the length and across the ends.
  3. Kahanda. The sealed roll passes through the heat tunnel; the loose film wrinkles at first, then pulls tight.
  4. Väljasööt. The roll leaves the tunnel, the film cools and sets, and the roll is taken off for labelling or stacking.

The working area sits behind clear polycarbonate covers, with red steel guard posts round the line.

The sealing stage

The seal decides how well the pack holds. Pneumatic clamps and guides bring the film edges together and a heated sealing bar welds them. Settings that matter:

  • Seal temperature and dwell. Set for the film type and gauge so the weld is complete but not burnt through.
  • Film allowance. Enough film round the circumference for a clean overlap at the seal, plus overhang at each end so the tunnel can close the ends.
  • Roll position. Guides keep the roll centred so the overlap is even along its length.

The shrinking stage

In the tunnel, hot air heats the film until it contracts round the roll. Two settings control the result:

  • Temperatuur. High enough to shrink the film fully, low enough not to mark the carpet pile.
  • Time in the tunnel. Set by tunnel length and conveyor speed. Rolls pass through continuously, so a roll can be longer than the tunnel as long as each section gets enough dwell time (t = tunnel length ÷ line speed). The infeed and outfeed must support the full roll length.

Sizing example: film and tunnel time

Illustrative roll: 300 mm OD, 4,000 mm long.

Vaata Arvutus Tulemus
Roll circumference π × 300 ≈ 942 mm
Flat web width, single sheet with 50 mm seal overlap 942 + 50 ≈ 992 mm
Or: centrefold film, lay-flat width 942 ÷ 2 + 50 ≈ 520 mm
Film length per roll (300 mm overhang each end) 4,000 + 2 × 300 4,600 mm
Time in a 3,000 mm tunnel at 6 m/min t = L_tunnel ÷ v = 3 ÷ 6 × 60 30 s

Tulemus. This roll needs a 992 mm flat web, or centrefold film about 520 mm lay-flat, and 4.6 m per roll. A 3,000 mm tunnel at 6 m/min gives 30 s of heat. Tunnel length, temperature and speed for your film are confirmed at quote and checked in the factory test.

Other ways to pack carpet rolls

Shrinking is one of several carpet packing solutions we build:

Lahendus Mida see teeb Kui see sobib
Seal and shrink (this line) film sleeve sealed and shrunk tight retail-ready, fully closed packs
Bag packing line roll pushed into a pre-made bag mixed lengths, simple closing
Roll stretch wrapping spiral of stretch film round the roll heavy rolls, lowest film cost

No one machine fits every carpet size, so each line is customised to the smallest and largest roll.

Valiku kontroll-leht

  1. Roll OD: smallest and largest.
  2. Roll length and weight.
  3. Rulli tunnis.
  4. Closed ends or open ends.
  5. Labelling, stacking or palletising after packing.

Ohutus: EN 415-10 ja ISO 12100

Packaging lines are built to EN 415-10, with the risk assessment done to ISO 12100. The hazards here are the heated sealing bar, the hot tunnel, the pneumatic clamps and the moving conveyor. Clear covers enclose the sealer, guard posts mark the line, and the tunnel is insulated so its outer skin stays safe to touch.

Inseneri KKK

Q: Will the heat damage the carpet? A: The tunnel temperature and time are set so the film shrinks without marking the pile; this is proven on your carpet in the factory test.

Q: Can the line handle different roll lengths? A: Yes, within the range it is built for. The infeed and outfeed must support the longest roll.

Q: When is shrink packaging preferred over stretch wrapping? A: Stretch wrapping is cheaper on film, but a shrunk sleeve is smoother, fully closed and more presentable.

Q: What do you need to quote? A: Roll OD (smallest and largest), length and weight, and output per hour.
