Envolvedora horizontal para objetos grandes

Resumen ejecutivo

Big, bulky objects such as panels, furniture parts, foam blocks and framed goods are hard to wrap on a pallet turntable. A horizontal orbital stretch wrapper carries the load through a turning film ring on a roller conveyor, so the film seals all four long sides without the load ever spinning. Our equivalent solution, the E1400, takes objects 1,000–3,000 mm long, 300–1,400 mm wide and 50–1,000 mm high, with a ring speed of 10–60 r/min.

The machine is a blue frame with a silver ring. A large white block on a light timber frame travels on the roller conveyor through the ring while the film carriage spirals film over its perimeter, then leaves on the outfeed conveyor. A light curtain covers the opening, a yellow fence closes the side, and the control panel with its emergency stop sits on the right.

Why big objects go on a horizontal orbital stretch wrapper

Problem on a turntable How the horizontal wrapper solves it
Long objects overhang the pallet the object lies along the conveyor; length only sets the number of ring turns
Heavy or top-heavy objects should not spin the object only moves forward; the ring turns around it
Top and bottom faces stay open film goes over the top, under the bottom and along both sides
Corners and edges get crushed film tension is set on the touch screen for each product
Manual wrapping is slow and uneven overlap is set from 10% to 90% and repeats on every piece

Size window: will the object fit?

The cross-section (width × height) must fit the ring window, and the length must fall in the conveyor range.

Parámetro Our E1400 (equivalent solution) Our E1000

Ejemplo. An object of 2,000 × 1,200 × 900 mm fits the E1400 (1,200 mm wide is under 1,400 mm; 900 mm high is under 1,000 mm). An object of 1,500 × 1,100 × 1,050 mm does not: 1,050 mm is over the 1,000 mm height limit, so it needs a larger ring, confirmed at quote. Measure the largest point, including any timber frame, handles or packing blocks. Very long flat panels follow the same check; see orbital wrapping for extra-long panels.

Film pitch, film use and cycle time

The load moves forward while the ring turns. The distance it moves per ring turn is the film pitch:

Film pitch = film width × (1 − overlap).

Worked example for the 2,000 × 1,200 × 900 mm object with 500 mm film at 50% overlap:

Paso Cálculo Resultado
Film pitch 500 mm × 0.5 250 mm por vuelta
Turns along the length 2,000 ÷ 250 8
Extra end reinforcement turns 1 delanteros + 1 traseros 10 turns in total
Perimeter of the object 2 × (1.2 + 0.9) 4.2 m
Film laid on the object × 10 4.2 42 m (stretched length)
Wrap time at 30 r/min 10 ÷ 30 0.33 min, aproximadamente 20 s
Conveyor speed while wrapping 0.25 m × 30 r/min 7.5 m/min

Resultado. About 20 s of wrapping per object, plus feed-in and feed-out time. With 300 mm film at the same overlap the pitch drops to 150 mm and the turns rise to 2,000 ÷ 150 = 13.3, so 14 plus 2 end turns, 16 in total: slower, but a better seal on short objects. On the E1000 the conveyor speed range is 3–12 m/min; 7.5 m/min sits inside it.

Transportadores de entrada y salida

Big objects need full support on both sides of the ring, so the film does not carry the weight.

On our E1000 the infeed conveyor is 2,000 mm long and 1,200 mm wide and the outfeed conveyor is 2,000 × 800 mm; for the E1400 the conveyor length is matched to the longest object, confirmed at quote.

Rule of thumb: each conveyor should be at least as long as the longest object, so the object is fully supported before the ring starts and after it stops. A soft start and ring jog let the operator start the film tail on the first corner without tearing it, and a position sensor parks the ring at the same start point after each cycle.

Light or tall objects can shift as the film pulls on them. We fit a top press roller and side protection rollers on orbital wrappers for this; a pressing device suits light products, normally under 5 kg. Pre-stretch can be added on wrappers for irregular objects to lower the pull on soft corners; the ratio is confirmed at quote.

Lista de verificación de selección

  1. Largest length, width and height, including frames and blocks.
  2. Weight per object.
  3. Sharp edges or soft surfaces that need corner boards or lower tension.
  4. Film type: LLDPE stretch film, paper or woven tape.
  5. Objects per hour.
  6. Manual loading, or conveyor link to the line before and after.

Seguridad: EN 415-10 e ISO 12100

Wrapping machines fall under EN 415-10, with the risk assessment to ISO 12100:2010. The turning ring and the film carriage are the main hazards. A protection shield covers the ring drive and moving parts. The light curtain at the opening and the side fence keep hands out of the ring zone, and the light curtain distance follows ISO 13855. Every machine has an emergency stop on the control panel. Guarding and CE documents are agreed per project.

Preguntas frecuentes sobre ingeniería

Q: Does the object turn during wrapping? A: No. The object moves forward on the powered rollers while the ring turns around it, which suits heavy and top-heavy objects.

Q: What is the largest object the E1400 takes? A: 3,000 mm long, 1,400 mm wide and 1,000 mm high. Larger sections need a bigger ring, confirmed at quote.

Q: How much film is used? A: Work it out as turns × perimeter, as in the example above: about 42 m on the object for a 2,000 × 1,200 × 900 mm piece at 50% overlap.

Q: How is a light or unstable object held in the ring? A: With a top press roller and side protection rollers, as above. The choice depends on weight and height and is confirmed at quote.

Q: Can it wrap with paper instead of film? A: Yes. The E-series runs LLDPE stretch film, paper or woven tape.

Q: What power and air are needed? A: About 4.5 kW. The E1000 uses compressed air at 5–8 kgf/cm² (about 0.5–0.8 MPa); air for the E1400 is confirmed at quote.
