Why change the pallet under a full load

Goods often arrive on one kind of pallet and must leave on another. Wooden pallets are not welcome in clean production areas, and pool pallets must be returned. Sometimes the bottom layer is damaged and must be reached.

Our single clamp inverter does these jobs without unloading the pallet by hand. It suits packed, packaged and canned food, from yogurt and biscuits to bottled wine, and heavy goods such as cement.

How a single clamp holds the load

The load sits on a fixed bottom platform. One clamp comes down from above and presses the load, with the new pallet on top, against that platform. With only one moving clamp, the machine is simple and economic, with a strong, spacious frame.

Where clamping time matters or loads are tall and must stay centred, our dual clamp inverters move both clamps instead.

The single clamp inversion cycle

1. **Load.** A forklift places the load on the bottom platform.
2. **New pallet.** The operators lay the new pallet on top of the load.
3. **Clamp.** The clamp closes, pressing the stack against the platform.
4. **Turn.** The machine turns the stack through 180 degrees. The load now stands on the new pallet, with the old pallet on top.
5. **Withdraw.** The clamp opens, the old pallet is lifted away, and the forklift removes the load.

The cycle runs under semi-automatic control from the panel on the fence.

Height range, turnover time and power follow our pallet changer quotation data for the 2 t class. Send the lowest and tallest stack, including both pallets, and we set the clamp stroke to suit.

Worked example: a cement bulk bag from wood to plastic

Take bulk bags of cement, each 1,000 kg, standing on wooden pallets of 1,200 × 1,200 mm. The plant wants them on plastic pallets. Say the wooden pallet weighs 25 kg and the plastic one 20 kg. These are illustrative customer figures.

**Weight.** In the clamps are the bag, the old pallet and the new one: 1,000 + 25 + 20 = 1,045 kg. That leaves 2,000 − 1,045 = 955 kg in hand on the 2 t rating.

**Footprint.** The pallet matches the 1,200 × 1,200 mm size. A bag that stays within the pallet edge turns without catching the frame.

**Height.** Say the filled bag stands 1,100 mm and each pallet is 150 mm high. The stack in the clamp is 150 + 1,100 + 150 = 1,400 mm, inside the 610–2,000 mm range.

**Pallets freed.** Swapping 120 bags a day frees 120 wooden pallets a day, or 120 × 5 = 600 over a five-day week, to go back to the supplier.

**Loads per hour.** One turn takes about 25 s, so the machine alone could make 3,600 ÷ 25 = 144 turns an hour. Forklift trips and placing the new pallet add time t at your site. If t is 90 s, an illustrative figure, output is 3,600 ÷ (25 + 90) = 31 loads an hour.

Soft loads and bulk bags

A bulk bag is not rigid like a stack of cartons. Under the clamp it settles, and when inverted it rests on its top. A domed or uneven top gives the new pallet a poor seat, so level it first or lay a flat board between bag and pallet. Tell us if your load is soft or bagged, so we can set the clamping to hold it without crushing.

Ασφάλεια και EN 415-10

Our single clamp inverter is built to EN 415-10, the general safety standard for packaging machines, and each layout gets an ISO 12100 risk assessment. The turning frame and the closing clamp are the main hazards. A yellow mesh fence closes off the turning zone, and the control panel is mounted on the fence, outside it. Operators place the new pallet only while the machine is stopped.
