The film’s job is to keep moisture and dirt off the steel and hold the layers together in transit. PE film works only as well as its application, which is what the machine controls. The coil range and film plan are confirmed per project.

What the machine does

The vertical coil wrapping machine applies PE film around the coil, laying the cover that protects and holds the wound material. Coils are wrapped by the machine in a set sequence, so the film reaches around the same way on every coil. Because the film tension and passes are machine-set, PE film works to its full effect rather than by hand. The covered steps and wrap plan are confirmed per project.

PE film application

PE film is drawn from the roll and applied around the coil in controlled passes, tightening the cover as it builds. Application is where film succeeds or fails: tension too loose leaves the coil exposed, and a machine-held application keeps it even. The film is held at the set tension across the full pass of the coil. The film grade and tension follow the coil, confirmed per project.

Vertical coil wrapping

In the vertical configuration the coil is wrapped on its axis, with the film passes laid across the coil’s width. Vertical wrapping suits coils that present their flat face to the wrapper, covering the faces and the outer diameter. The machine keeps the coil stationary while wrapping on the vertical plane. Vertical wrap settings follow the coil’s dimensions, confirmed per project.

Steel copper and wire coils

The machine wraps the range of material coils that need PE film protection: steel, copper and wire coils. These coils share the need for a cover that holds without marking, and PE film applied evenly meets it. The material range is confirmed per project against the coils actually run. One machine covers the coil mix the facility packs.

Film tension and cover

Holding film tension on the machine is what makes the cover consistent, and even cover is what protects the coil through handling and transit. Cover means the film reaches the areas that matter, faces, diameter and edges. Machine-set tension and passes remove the operator’s variability from the wrap. Tension and cover requirements are confirmed per project against the coil mix.

Typical configuration

Figures below list functional design boundaries rather than numeric values, and are confirmed per project.

Parameter

Typical range, confirmed per project

Coil

steel, copper, wire

Film

PE grade

Wrap

vertical passes

Tension

set standard

Output

handling fit

Electrical supply

380 V three phase 50 Hz, or 220 V single phase for light machines, selected per project

What the video shows

Our footage shows a vertical coil wrapping machine applying PE film.
