Wrapping by hand at the end of the line is slow and the film coverage varies. An online wrapper takes tyres straight from the conveyor, wraps each one the same way and passes it on to stacking or palletising.

How the line works

Infeed: tyres arrive flat on the belt conveyor.

Position: the roller conveyor brings the tyre into the ring and supports hold it steady.

Wrap: the ring turns and lays film through the bore and around the tread while the rollers turn the tyre.

Cut and hold: the film is cut and the tail is held on the package.

Outfeed: the wrapped tyre moves on, and the ring returns to its start position for the next one.

Inverters give the ring and rollers a soft start and stop. The machine runs in automatic or semi-automatic mode.

Tyre range and specs

Reference figures from our FPT-200 tyre wrapper; the online version is sized to your tyres at quote.

Item

FPT-200 tyre wrapper

Tyre ID

300–700 mm

Tyre OD

510–800 mm

Tyre width

40–250 mm

Tyre weight

10–30 kg

Ring speed

0–120 r/min

Wrapping speed

18–30 sec/pcs

Overlap

10–80%

Power

1.5 kW

Voltage

AC 380 V / 50 Hz or to order

Materials

PE, stretch film, knit belt, PP, paper

Logo tape can be applied over the tread at the same time as the film. If your tyre diameter changes often on one line, we recommend motorised adjustment of the support rollers so size changes need no manual setting.

Throughput

Tyres per hour = 3,600 ÷ (wrap time + conveyor index time, in seconds). Ignoring index time gives the gross rate: at 30 s per tyre: 3,600 ÷ 30 = 120 tyres per hour. At 18 s: 3,600 ÷ 18 = 200 tyres per hour. Real output is lower by the time the conveyor needs to move the next tyre into the ring. Higher overlap means more ring turns per tyre and a longer cycle, so set the overlap to the protection you need.

Selection checklist

Tyre ID, OD and width range?

Tyre weight range?

Line speed, tyres per hour?

Film, knit belt or paper?

Logo tape needed?

Stacking or palletising after wrapping?

Safety

The machine is designed to EN ISO 12100:2010 for risk assessment, EN 415-10 for packaging machine safety and EN 60204-1 for electrical equipment. The rotating ring is the main hazard. The wrap zone is fenced with guardrails, and moving parts are covered.

Engineering FAQ

Q: How long does one tyre take?
A: 18–30 seconds on our FPT-200, depending on size and overlap.

Q: Can the operator run single cycles?
A: Yes; in semi-automatic mode the operator starts each wrap cycle, and in automatic mode the line runs on its own.

Q: Can it wrap truck tyres?
A: The FPT-200 covers 510–800 mm OD; larger tyres need a bigger ring, confirmed at quote.

Q: How is overlap set?
A: By inverter speed of the ring and rollers, 10–80%.

Next step

Send your tyre sizes, weights and line speed to info@fhopepack.com.

We size the ring, conveyors and supports.

We reply within 24 hours with a proposal and quotation.

Related reading

Tyre packing machine (product)

Automatic tyre coil packing machine (video)

Tyre stack packing line (video)

Sources

FHOPE product page: tyre packing machine, FPT-200 table

FHOPE project correspondence on tyre wrapping

EN ISO 12100:2010; EN 415-10; EN 60204-1

The tyre packing line shown above

Last reviewed: 2026-10-20

Executive summary An online tyre packing machine wraps each tyre as it travels on the conveyor, so packing keeps pace with the line without manual handling.
