Our FPCA-200 cable coil wrapper covers coils of 250–500 mm OD and 2–50 kg at a ring speed of 10–120 r/min. In one cell, the coil is held from the coiler to the wrapper, so it keeps its shape. The film wrap keeps dust and moisture off the cable sheath, holds the coil without ties and leaves room for a label.

How the cell works

Coil: the coiler winds the set cable length into a coil.

Transfer: a pneumatic gripper moves the coil to the wrapping station.

Hold: the press head lowers to hold the coil on the rotating plate.

Wrap: the ring turns through the coil eye and the plate turns the coil, so film covers it all round.

Release: the film is cut, the press head lifts and the coil is pushed out.

Out: the wrapped coil runs on the roller conveyor to labelling or boxing.

FPCA-200 data

Item

FPCA-200 cable coil wrapping machine

Voltage

AC 380 V, 50 Hz (or to order)

Power

2.0 kW

Coil ID

150–400 mm

Coil OD

250–500 mm

Coil width

80–200 mm

Coil weight

2–50 kg

Ring speed

10–120 r/min

Material

PE, stretch film, PVC

For larger cable coils, the FPCA-300 is the next size. FPCA-200 is the wrapping unit of the cell. On the coiling side, our automatic cable winding machine handles cable of 2–20 mm diameter at line speeds up to 200 m/min, with a meter counter from 0.01 m to 500 m and a 6 bar air supply. The exact coiler for your cable is confirmed at quote.

Film use and wrap time

Ring passes per layer ≈ π × coil OD ÷ (film width × (1 − overlap)).

Wrap time (s) ≈ ring passes ÷ ring speed (r/min) × 60.

Example only: a 400 mm OD coil with 100 mm film at 50% overlap needs about π × 400 ÷ (100 × 0.5) ≈ 25 passes. At 100 r/min this is 25 ÷ 100 × 60 = 15 s of wrapping. Add transfer and push-out time to get the cell cycle, and match it to the coiler output.

The formula uses the outer diameter. Around the coil eye the same film passes cover a much shorter perimeter, so the film builds up at the ID. Film use is therefore set by the OD, and the eye gets several layers.

Selection checklist

Cable diameter and type?

Coil length, ID, OD and width?

Coil weight?

Film type: PE, stretch or PVC?

Coils per hour from the coiler?

Labelling or boxing after wrapping?

Safety

We design coiling and wrapping cells to EN ISO 12100:2010 for risk assessment, EN 415-10 for packaging machine safety and EN 60204-1 for electrical equipment. The ring and gripper zone are guarded, and an E-stop is on the panel.

Engineering FAQ

Q: Do I need ties if the coil is film wrapped?
A: For most cable coils, no. The film holds the coil; ties can be added for heavy coils.

Q: Can it wrap PVC film?
A: Yes. PE, stretch film and PVC are all used.

Q: Can the wrapper run alone?
A: Yes, with manual loading, or in line with a coiler.

Q: How fast is the ring?
A: 10–120 r/min, set to the coil size and film.

Next step

Send your cable size, coil size and output to info@fhopepack.com.

We confirm the coiler and wrapper.

We reply within 24 hours with a proposal and quotation.

Related reading

FPCA-200 cable coil wrapping machine (product)

FPCA-300 cable coil wrapping machine (product)

Automatic cable winding and packing machine (product)

Cable coil packing machine and wire packing machine (video)

Full wrapping-through packaging machine (video)

Sources

FHOPE product pages: FPCA-200, FPCA-300

EN ISO 12100:2010; EN 415-10; EN 60204-1

The cable coiling and wrapping cell shown above

Last reviewed: 2026-10-20

Executive summary Auto cable coiling and wrapping with film turns a cut length of cable into a sealed, labelled coil without hand work.
