A yellow gantry carries the strapping head over the stack, and the head straps it across its width. The on-screen caption reads &#8220;automatic strapping of cut-to-length sheet&#8221; in Chinese. More sheet stacks wait on the line behind.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"stack-weight\">Working out stack weight<\/h2>\n<p>Stack weight follows from sheet size, thickness, count and the density of steel. On the chain conveyor the stack is indexed forward under the head, so one head can place every strap in turn.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"dunnage\">Dunnage and edge protection<\/h2>\n<p>Steel straps can cut into sheet edges and damage the top surface. Edge protectors under the strap at each corner spread the load. Timber or steel dunnage under the stack leaves space for forklift tines or crane slings.<\/p>\n<p>Tell us how your stacks are lifted. The dunnage spacing and strap positions have to match it, so slings and straps do not cross.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"safety\">Controls and safety<\/h2>\n<p>The strapping head and gantry move over the chain conveyor. Keep people out of the station while a stack is moving or being strapped. Stop the line before anyone reaches in to clear a strap.<\/p>\n<p>The standards that apply depend on the destination market. Our illustrative guide uses 2 straps up to 2,000 mm and 3 up to 4,000 mm.<\/p>\n<p>Q: Does one head place all the straps?\nA: Yes. The chain conveyor indexes the stack forward between straps.<\/p>\n<p>Q: Will the strap mark the sheet edges?\nA: Steel strap can. Use edge protectors at the corners under each strap.<\/p>\n<p>Q: Can the line add dunnage automatically?\nA: Dunnage is not placed automatically in this video.
