Plastic pipes and tubes scratch, bend and pick up dust if they ship loose. A tight film wrap around the bundle holds the pieces together and keeps the surface clean. Our orbital stretch wrapper spirals stretch film around a pipe or tube bundle as it moves through a ring, at 20–90 r/min. This guide covers bundle preparation, the wrapper data, the overlap maths and what to send us for a quote.

Why wrap pipe and tube bundles
Loose pipes roll, rub and slide apart in a truck. Tape at the ends holds the bundle but leaves the middle open to dust and scuffs. A spiral film wrap covers the full length, holds the count and stays clean. The film is clear, so the label and the pipe can be seen without opening the pack.

- Count and bundle: pipes are counted and formed into a square or hexagon bundle.
- Masukan: the bundle runs on the infeed conveyor; a press cylinder holds it so it does not shake.
- Membungkus: the ring turns around the bundle and lays stretch film in a spiral as the bundle moves.
- Memotong: the film is cut and fixed at the bundle end.
- Umpan keluar: the wrapped bundle runs out for labelling and stacking.

The ring opening must clear the bundle diagonal: a 310 × 310 mm bundle has a diagonal of about 438 mm, plus the film roll path. Larger bundles use a larger ring, confirmed at quote.
Film overlap and speed
Conveyor speed (m/min) = ring speed (r/min) × film width (m) × (1 − overlap).
Wrap time (min) = bundle length (m) ÷ conveyor speed.
Example only: at 60 r/min, 0.125 m film and 50% overlap, the bundle moves at 60 × 0.125 × 0.5 = 3.75 m/min. A 6 m bundle then takes 6 ÷ 3.75 = 1.6 min in transit. Extra wraps held at the head and tail of the bundle add to this, and the number of end wraps is set on the HMI. More overlap gives a stronger pack but a slower line.

Safety/keselamatan
We design orbital wrappers to EN ISO 12100:2010 for risk assessment, EN 415-10 for packaging machine safety and EN 60204-1 for electrical equipment. The ring is guarded; the guard door stops the ring when opened.

Q: Will the film scratch the pipe? A: No. The film is laid under set tension, and the press pressure is adjustable for the surface.
Q: Can it wrap long pipes? A: Yes. Conveyor length is matched to the pipe length.
Q: Can it run unattended? A: Yes, with automatic infeed, cut and outfeed.
Q: What about very small bundles? A: Bundles under 100 mm need smaller guide rollers or a smaller ring, confirmed at quote.
