Máquina semiautomática de envoltura de palets con film estirable: tecnología y mejores prácticas

Resumen ejecutivo A semi-auto pallet stretch wrapper turns the load on a turntable while a film carriage climbs the column. The operator brings the pallet, ties on the film and starts the cycle, and the machine wraps to the photocell-set height. Our A100 and A200 take loads up to 1,500 × 1,500 × 1,800 mm on a 2,000 mm turntable. Below are the setup practices that give a stable load with the least film, and a worked example of film per load.

The technology inside a semi-auto wrapper

Three systems do the work. The disquera turns the load on a ring gear bearing with soft start and stop, so the load does not jolt. The carro de película rides up and down the column. It pre-stretches the film between rollers before it reaches the load. The PLC runs the cycle, counting wraps and reading a photocell that finds the top of the load.

On our machines the panel and display sit on the carriage side of the column. The operator sets bottom, middle and top wrap counts, overlap and film force there. A re-wrap function adds wraps to a load that needs more without a full new cycle.

Both spec sheets list 250% pre-stretch. Only the A200 sheet lists a dedicated pre-stretch motor, so confirm the pre-stretch drive with us when you choose between them. Both machines have a red mushroom-head emergency stop and a lockable electrical disconnect.

Seven setup practices for a stable load

  1. Centre the load. An off-centre load swings wide and pulls film unevenly. Check that the load diagonal fits the turntable’s turning diameter.
  2. Tie the load to the pallet. Set enough bottom wraps for the film to reach down over the pallet deck. Most load shifts start between the pallet and the first layer of cartons.
  3. Lock the top. Top wraps hold the top layer, which has the least weight on it and moves first.
  4. Set overlap with carriage speed. Overlap depends on how far the carriage moves in one turntable turn, so carriage speed sets it.
  5. Match pre-stretch to the load. High pre-stretch saves film on firm, square loads. Lower it for soft bags or loads that crush.
  6. Use the photocell. Let the sensor find the load top instead of a fixed height, so short loads do not waste film above them.
  7. Store film well. Cold or dusty film tears at the pre-stretch rollers. Keep rolls indoors at room temperature.

Worked example: turns, time and film per load

Take a 1,200 × 1,000 × 1,500 mm load. These are illustrative customer figures.

Comprobación de ajuste. The load diagonal is √(1,200² + 1,000²) = 1,562 mm, inside the 2,000 mm turntable.

Vueltas. For 50% overlap with 500 mm film, the carriage must rise 250 mm per turn. At 13 r/min that means a carriage speed of 250 × 13 = 3,250 mm/min. Our cycle runs both ways: the carriage spirals down the load and then climbs back up. Each 1,500 mm pass takes 1,500 ÷ 250 = 6 turns, so the two passes take 12. Add 3 bottom and 3 top wraps, illustrative settings, for 18 turns.

Tiempo Eighteen turns at 13 r/min take about 1.38 min, or 83 s of turning. Add the film tie-on, cut and forklift moves, and compare the total with your loads per hour.

Película. One turn wraps a perimeter of 2 × (1.2 + 1.0) = 4.4 m, so 18 turns put 79.2 m on the load. At 250% pre-stretch, 1 m off the roll becomes 3.5 m, so the roll gives 79.2 ÷ 3.5 = 22.6 m. LLDPE weighs about 920 kg/m³. That roll length weighs 0.000025 × 0.5 × 22.6 × 920 = 0.26 kg. A 15 kg roll covers about 58 loads like this. A single up pass would save a third of that film, at the cost of a weaker wrap.

Common wrapping faults and their causes

Culpa Causa habitual
Film tears at corners Film force too high, or sharp carton edges
Load leans after wrapping Too few bottom wraps, film not reaching the pallet
Top layer slides Too few top wraps
High film use Overlap or wrap counts set higher than the load needs
Envoltura suelta Pre-stretch too low or film force too low

Lista de selección: qué enviarnos

  1. Pallet size and the largest load footprint.
  2. Load height range and heaviest load.
  3. Cargas por hora.
  4. Tipo de carga: cajas de cartón, sacos, bidones o artículos sueltos.
  5. Whether you need powered pre-stretch.
  6. Suministro eléctrico en el lugar.

Seguridad y EN 415-6

We design pallet wrappers to EN 415-6 and assess risks to ISO 12100. On a semi-auto machine the operator works close to the load, so the main hazards are the turning load and the carriage. Mark the floor round the turning circle and keep out of it while the turntable runs. We fit the carriage with protection against falling and against trapping a foot beneath it as it comes down. The emergency stop and lockable disconnect come as standard.

Preguntas frecuentes sobre ingeniería

Q: What does 250% pre-stretch mean? A: Each metre of film is stretched to 3.5 m before it reaches the load.

Q: Can I wrap a load heavier than 2,000 kg? A: Not on the A100 or A200. We quote a heavier turntable for that.

Q: Why does overlap change when I change carriage speed? A: The carriage moves further in each turntable turn, so the film bands spread apart.

Q: Which safety standards apply? A: ISO 12100 for the risk assessment and EN 415-6 for pallet wrapping machines, in CE markets.
