Resumen ejecutivo
Medical and small-bore tubing is sold in exact lengths, and each piece must be cut square, coiled neatly and kept clean. Our automatic medical tubing cutting to size and coiling machine meters the tube, cuts it at length, winds it on a pin plate and ties the coil. It makes small coils of 200–450 mm OD up to 5 kg. This page covers how it works, the coil range, length accuracy and what to send for a quote.
This machine runs blue tubing on a stainless steel table. The tube passes a feed and cutting unit with a pneumatic head, then winds onto a round plate with upright pins. The finished coil, held by a twist tie, measures about 20 cm across against a steel rule.

Why automate tubing cutting and coiling
Cutting by hand against a mark gives length errors and angled cuts, and every touch risks contamination. Coiling by hand twists the tube, which can kink it when the user unwinds it. A machine cuts at an encoder count, winds without twist and ties each coil the same way. Operators only load the supply and take away finished coils.
Cómo funciona la máquina
- Alimentar: the tube is pulled from the supply by driven rollers, with a sensor checking it is present.
- Comienza: a guide places the tube end on the pin plate, where it is clamped.
- Coil and meter: the pin plate turns and winds the tube into a coil while the encoder counts the length; the pins set the coil ID.
- Corte: at the set length the pneumatic blade cuts the trailing end square.
- Corbata: the coil is tied with a twist tie; other tie or band materials are confirmed at quote.
- Salida: the pins lower or open, and the coil is taken off for bagging.
Gama de bobinas
| Parámetro | Autonomía |
|---|---|
| DIÁMETRO INTERIOR DE LA BOBINA | 120 – 200 mm |
| bobina de OD | 200 – 450 mm |
| Altura de la bobina | 50 – 200 mm |
| Peso de la bobina | hasta 5 kg |
Tube diameter range, length accuracy and output are confirmed at quote for your tube.
Length accuracy maths
Measured length = encoder pulses × roller circumference ÷ pulses per turn.
Length error ≈ slip + cut delay × feed speed.
Example only: if the tube runs at 30 m/min (0.5 m/s) and the cutter reacts 20 ms late, the tube moves 0.5 × 0.02 = 0.01 m, or 10 mm, past the mark. Slowing the feed before the cut, or stopping it, removes most of this. For a 3 m piece, 10 mm is about 0.33% of length.
Turns per coil ≈ tube length ÷ (π × mean coil diameter).
A 3 m tube on a 160 mm mean diameter makes about 3 ÷ (π × 0.16) ≈ 6 turns.

Seguridad
We design coiling machines to EN ISO 12100:2010 for risk assessment, EN 415-10 for packaging machine safety and EN 60204-1 for electrical equipment. The cutter is guarded and the plate stops when the cover opens.
Preguntas frecuentes sobre ingeniería
Q: Can it run soft PVC and silicone tube? A: Yes, with feed rollers and tension set for the material.
Q: How is the length set? A: On the HMI; the encoder counts it.
Q: Can it bag the coil? A: Yes, a bagging unit can be added after tying.
Q: Does the cut stay square? A: Yes. The tube is held each side of the blade during the cut.
