Executive summary Our pipe bagging line makes a bag from PE or PP film, pushes a pipe bundle into it and seals it, all on the line. It bags bundles from 110 zu 260 mm across at about 1–3 bundles per minute, and the bag can be changed to suit single pipes. We size the bag from the bundle diameter and check the bagging rate against your extruder output.

How the bagging line works
- Futter. The pipe bundle is fed in automatically and conveyed to the bag station.
- Nähen Sie die Tasche. The machine welds PE or PP film into a bag sized to the bundle.
- Füllen. A pusher drives the bundle into the open bag.
- Abdichten und Entladen. The bag is sealed, carried to the end of the line and tilted out.
Upstream, a counting and bundling machine counts the pipes by program and holds the bundle together with LLDPE stretch film before bagging. A strapping machine can strap the bundle instead, and a labelling machine can add a barcode label after sealing.
In our video, the bag opens round the bundle and a red laser line marks the centre, so the bundle goes in straight and the seal lands clear of the pipe ends.
Size the bundle
Round pipes nest in a hexagon. A bundle of 19 pipes has 5 pipes across its widest row, so its diameter is about 5 times the pipe diameter.
| Pfeifen Tabak | Pipes per bundle | Bündeldurchmesser |
|---|---|---|
| 20mm | 19 | Über 100 mm |
| 32mm | 19 | Über 160 mm |
| 50mm | 19 | Über 250 mm |
The 20 mm bundle falls below the 110 mm bagging range, so small pipe needs more pipes per bundle. With 37 pipes, there are 7 across, giving about 140 mm. The bundle weight should also stay within 10–50 kg for the bundling machine.
Size the bag
The bag has to go round the bundle with some clearance:
Flat bag width ≥ π × bundle diameter ÷ 2 + clearance.
For the 160 mm bundle, π × 160 ÷ 2 is about 251 mm before clearance. Too little clearance makes the bag drag on the pusher stroke, so we set it on a trial with your bundles. The bag length is the pipe length plus enough to seal at the end. Pipes run 3–6 m long, and bag film is PE, PP or HDPE, 30–80 µm thick.
Bagging rate against the extruder
Illustrative example for 32 mm pipe in 4 m lengths, 19 pipes per bundle:
| Bagging rate | Rohre pro Minute | Pipe per minute |
|---|---|---|
| 1 Bündel/min | 19 | 76 m |
| 3 Bündel/min | 57 | 228 m |
If your extruder makes less pipe per minute than the bagging line can take, one bagger can serve the line comfortably. If several extruders feed one bagger, we add their output together and check it against the rate for your bundle size. A pipe storage and buffer station ahead of the bundling machine keeps the line working without a break, for example while a film roll is changed.

Versorgungseinrichtungen und Sicherheit
The bagging line needs compressed air at 7–8 bar and a 380 V three-phase supply, which we build to your local frequency. The sealing jaws and pusher are guarded, and the line stops if a bundle jams at the bag station.
Die anzuwendenden Normen hängen vom Zielmarkt ab. Für CE-Märkte legt ISO 12100 die Risikobewertungsmethode fest und EN 415-10 die allgemeinen Anforderungen an Verpackungsmaschinen.
Selection checklist for a pipe bagging line
- Pipe diameter and length range.
- Pipes per bundle and bundle diameter.
- Einzelrohr- oder Bündelverpackung.
- Bag film type and thickness.
- Extruder output per line, and lines per bagger.
- Strapping or labelling needed.
- Lokale Stromversorgung und Druckluft.
Häufig gestellte Fragen zur Technik
Q: What bundle sizes can it bag? A: Bundles from 110 to 260 mm across. A smaller bundle needs more pipes per bundle to reach the range.
Q: How fast is it? A: About 1–3 bundles per minute.
Q: Can it bag single pipes? A: Yes. The bag can be changed for a single pipe or a bundle; we confirm on your drawing that the pipe diameter suits the bag station.
Q: What film does it use? A: Welded PE or PP film, 30–80 µm thick.
Q: How wide should the bag be? A: Flat width at least π × bundle diameter ÷ 2, plus clearance.
