AC Constant Speed Motors in our stretch wrapper
14.4.1.1. All constant speed motors shall be NEMA premium efficiency squirrel
cage induction motors in orbital stretch wrapper. All AC motors are to be totally enclosed fan cooled
or non ventilated, NEMA “T” Series steel frames, Class F insulation, 1.15

service factor, high efficiency, Design B, Class B rise. Only NEMA
standard frame motors shall be used. If orbital stretch wrapper variable frequency drives are
used, the AC motor shall be rated for variable frequency application.
DC Motors
All DC motors shall be Drip Proof Fully Guarded (blower ventilated if
required) Class “F” insulation, 240 or 500 Volt, with an oversize terminal
box. Should blower ventilation be required, suitable filtering shall be
provided. Filter media shall be easily removable for cleaning or replacement.
14.4.3 Gear Motors
14.4.3.1. All gear motors of panel orbital stretch wrapper are to be integral type, with Class”1″ gearing.
14.5. Motor Drives
14.5.1 AC Inverter Drives
14.5.1.1. The preferred vendor for coordinated process drives is Siemens . Other
drives can be considered but must be approved by AB-BMU engineers
before submission of quotation. Drive incoming power shall be 480 Volt, 3-
Phase.
14.5.2 DC Drives
14.5.2.1. The preferred Vendor of DC Drives is Siemens. Other drives can be
considered but must be approved by AB-BMU engineers before
submission of quotation. All motor drives must be fully digitally controlled,
including the voltage, current, speed and field current loops.
Stretch wrapper drives shall be easily re-configurable by either an onboard maintenance keypad
or by serial interface to a PC running the drive configuration software. The software
shall have standard control blocks that also allow for winder control, with CEMF and
tension loops.
14.5.4 Drives shall have serial communication ports that allow them to be networked.
14.5.5 Drives shall be sized for the application and shall meet ANSI/IEEE Std. 444.
14.5.6 Drive incoming power shall be 480 Volt, 3-Phase.
14.5.7 All drives shall be isolated from the 480 VAC power by either three-phase line
reactors or by isolation transformers. If the Bidder proposes to use individual line

reactors for drive isolation, a 3-phase isolation transformer must also be provided on
the primary side of the incoming 480 VAC power. This transformer shall be sized for
the total loading of all the drives provided by the EQUIPMENT SUPPLIER.
