When pallets are wrapped by forklift, the wrapper becomes a stop in the line: someone must lift each load on, wait, and lift it off. Our pallet wrapping machine with conveyors puts a roller conveyor in the turntable itself, level with the in-feed and out-feed lines. Loads roll on, are wrapped and roll off, and no forklift is needed at the wrapping station.

A pallet of cartons stands on a turntable with its own driven rollers, set in the same line as the yellow-guarded in-feed and out-feed roller conveyors. The film carriage runs on a blue mast beside the turntable, and the control cabinet with its signal light sits at the end of the cell.

Why put conveyors on the wrapper

The turntable, the loading conveyor and the unloading conveyor are on one horizontal line. A pallet coming from a palletiser or a manual packing station rolls straight onto the turntable, and the wrapped pallet rolls off to a pick-up point. The forklift only works at the end of the line, where it can collect loads in a buffer instead of waiting at the wrapper.

1. The in-feed conveyor sends one pallet onto the turntable conveyor and a photocell stops it in the centre.
2. A sensor measures the load height.
3. The turntable turns while the film carriage rises and falls, with the set number of top and bottom layers.
4. The film is cut (with the optional film grab and cut-off system) and the turntable stops in its home position, with the rollers lined up with the out-feed.
5. The turntable conveyor and out-feed conveyor run together and the wrapped pallet leaves.
6. The next pallet is already waiting on the in-feed.

Wrap time ≈ (bottom layers + top layers + spiral turns) ÷ turntable rpm

Pallets per hour ≈ 3,600 ÷ (wrap time + transfer time)

Example only: 3 bottom layers, 3 top layers and 10 spiral turns are 16 turns. At 12 rpm that is 16 ÷ 12 ≈ 1.3 min, or 80 s. With 30 s to move one pallet off and the next on, one cycle is 110 s, so about 3,600 ÷ 110 ≈ 32 pallets per hour. Tall or light cartons may need a lower speed; at 8 rpm the same wrap takes 120 s and the rate falls to about 24 per hour.

Layout points

• The turntable rollers must stop parallel to the line, so the turntable has a fixed home position.
• In-feed and out-feed heights match the turntable conveyor height.
• Allow buffer length on the in-feed so the upstream line does not stop during the wrap.
• A pneumatic top plate holds light or loose cartons while the turntable starts and stops.
• While the turntable rotates, its rollers are stopped and interlocked, so the pallet cannot creep; they run again only at the home position. Roller pitch, drive type and conveyor height are set to your pallets, confirmed at quote.

We design to EN ISO 12100:2010 for risk assessment, EN 415-6 for pallet wrapping machines and EN 60204-1 for the electrical equipment. The cell is fenced along the conveyors and the turntable, with soft start and soft stop on the turntable.

Q: Can a forklift still load it? A: Yes, with the ramp option, but the conveyor version is built to run without one.

Q: Will the pallet drift on the rollers while turning? A: No. The turntable conveyor is stopped and the load is centred before rotation.

Q: Can it run several pallet sizes? A: Yes, within the turntable diameter; the photocell centres each one.
